Her book, Dismissed: Tackling the Biases That Undermine Our Health Care, examines all forms of bias – those related to race and ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation, age, disabilities, and obesity.
Dismissed is the only book on this subject written by a primary care doctor who is a woman of color. She outlines the facts about how patients are affected by conscious and unconscious bias. She also proposes concrete solutions, all of which are applied at our CWH practices.
